War Child are looking for a Programme Finance Adviser for Middle East region to play an essential role in advancing our mission to support and improve the care and protection of children and young people who live with a combination of insecurity, poverty and exclusion in some of the worse conflict-affected places. War Child’s strategic plan anticipates significant growth in the number of children we support and the funding we need to make that happen. Based in London, the Programme Finance Adviser is essential to support that growth and to help War Child operate more efficiently.
As the Programme Finance Adviser, you will use your initiative, creativity and strong business partnering skills to play a crucial role in providing technical support in accounting, compliance including War Child internal procedures and donors’ requirements, reporting and proposal development for our Middle East/Asia country teams. The roles work closely with the finance and programme teams and are key for embedding and enhancing quality during a period of exceptional growth and continuous improvement in War Child.
Your expertise also means you have the gravitas to encourage and enable change. With a recognised accounting qualification and strong technical accounting expertise, you’re likely to be working in a NGO/charity at a similar level, or be looking for the chance to take the next step up. As part of a small team, the role holder will have the chance to shine and can really shape how our processes grow and develop.
Key duties will include:
· Supporting the Programmes Directorate and overseas Country Directors and Finance Managers in the preparation and presentation of multi-currency budgets, forecasts and cash-flows.
· Co-ordinating the production of the financial elements of donor reports
· Carrying out field visits to country programmes in order to perform finance capacity assessments.
· Review restricted income and expenditure against programme implementation and follow up with Programmes Directorate and country programmes to ensure timely spend in line with donor regulations.
· Analysis and follow up of monthly financial reporting packs from country offices
· Capacity building by supporting department teams in London and the Country Directors in country programmes in their evaluations and ongoing development of the in-country finance teams.
