The Internal Auditor (IA) will conduct audits and provide training and guidance, as assigned,
to ensure WCUK’s policies and procedures are followed, that WCUK donor and local laws and
regulations are being adhered to and that internal controls are adequate. The IA will make
written recommendations to Senior Management to increase efficiency and/or effectiveness
of the control systems and functions reviewed and ensures that compliance matters are
appropriately considered throughout the organisation. Audits should be designed to detect
fraud or manipulation of records and special investigations will be carried out on request. All
audits will culminate in a thorough report and recommendations for follow-up and/or
improvements to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of our work. The IA will then work
with colleagues to institute and monitor corrective action plans, as needed. The role requires
significant communication, negotiation, influencing, process and controls skills to assist the
organisation in understanding and managing risk. The role is required to assimilate complex
information and recommend appropriate courses of action that are proportionate to the risk. It
will have the ability to see the big picture whilst also paying attention to the detail.
