This is a technical advisory role that will lead on Education-in-Emergencies to provide critical global support to the Programme Department and country teams in the development of funding proposals, programme design, capacity-building, knowledge management and research. The role sits within our Programme Quality team working with multi-sector specialists who train, support and advise staff and partners. The position is based in London with 30-40% travel. We may consider applications from candidates who are resident and willing to work from one of our international offices, if they have a right to work there. In this instance, a local competitive compensation package would apply.

The EiE Advisor will provide critical support and coach country teams and London-based colleagues in designing and implementing quality EiE projects that are inclusive, gender- and conflict-sensitive, using participatory approaches, in both emergency and post-conflict settings. You will advise and support country offices and partners in designing programmes, reviewing educational curriculum, improving approaches and ensuring high quality technical input based on international standards in current and future educational programmes.
War Child education priorities include:
• Early Childhood Community-based Development (ECCD)
• E-learning programmes for primary education utilizing innovative technological solutions
• Formal and non-formal education and learning
• Inclusive education
• Accelerated Learning for children from conflict settings that need support being reintegrated or rehabilitated
• State or community-based child education systems
• Education integrated with Food Securities & Livelihoods (FSL) and Psycho-Social Support (PSS) to achieve child protection outcomes also through cash-based programming.

The EiE Advisor will contribute to developing concept notes and funding proposals whilst also supporting country teams in inter-agency cluster coordination. You will utilise your experience and learning to inform advocacy and policy development as well as improve knowledge management systems at the global level. You will lead on the development of a clear strategy for War Child’s education response in complex humanitarian settings, considering the immediate and longer-term needs of all children, including those with disabilities. The ideal candidate will have experience in undertaking rapid emergency assessments and supporting the evaluation of education in emergencies programmes.
