In response to the ongoing crisis, WCUK is implementing integrated child protection, education in emergencies and livelihoods programming to meet the needs of vulnerable children with particular emphasis on working with children associated with armed groups and forces. As the Child Protection Specialist, you will provide technical leadership and guidance on the design, technical implementation, and MEAL of WCUK’s child protection programming in CAR. You will work closely in particular with the Programme Quality Team and the Global Child Protection Advisor, and spend time building technical capacity to deliver high quality services that meet international and national standards. The role will also significantly contribute to external coordination efforts and initiatives within the cluster system, INGO networks and donor bodies.
The Child Protection Specialist is an integral part of the CAR programmatic team, providing technical leadership and guidance to ensure WCUK interventions are designed and delivered to international and national standards. Working closely with the Country Director and Programme Manager, you will also represent WCUK to external bodies, including clusters, INGOs and donors to raise WCUKs profile as a leading child protection actor in CAR.
The programme in CAR has a specific focus on; Psychosocial support to vulnerable children; reintegration of children associated with armed groups and forces; Gender Base Violence and sports for development programming. You will lead on the piloting and roll-out of new methodologies and the reinforcement of existing work in these thematic areas along with the Programme Manager who is responsible for daily project implementation. The reinforcement of technical capacity in integrated child protection for both WCUK staff and national partners will be a significant objective of this role. Whilst the role is based in Bangui, the majority of WCUKs programming in CAR is based in remote field locations and so travel will be required dependent
upon security conditions.
