Purpose of the Job
The Programme Funding Coordinator will work with the country office teams to ensure relevant programming and funding for country programmes, ensure the compliance with WCUK’s Quality Framework, and help WCUK adopt new ways of working to realise our ambition. The main purpose is assisting country office teams to conduct needs assessments, develop project concepts with partners/beneficiaries and submitting institutional proposals, and 20% in developing relationships with established and new humanitarian donors in and outside Iraq.
The Programme funding coordinator will provide on the ground support to country office teams in designing high-quality projects and evidence-based proposals compliant with donor guidelines, in child protection, education and livelihoods. A special focus will be given to Child Protection, Education and livelihood projects, and to new, larger, and/or longer term consortia opportunities. This position will be instrumental in securing new strategic partnerships with INGOs and will support the Programmes team in London and Country teams access new humanitarian donors. Mentoring country office staff in programme development, proposal writing and programme funding is a core component of the role, which is instrumental in meeting WCUK’s new objectives adopted in the 5-year strategy.

Personal Specification – Essential Criteria

Experience:
• University degree in disciplines relevant to the following areas: Education, Education in Emergencies, Social Sciences, or a field(s) relevant to international development assistance.
• Significant experience of writing proposals with high percentage of approval/ grants awarded in contexts similar to Iraq or Middle East.
• Familiar with donor formats and requirements such as ECHO, Dfid, UN agencies and MNFA, SIDA, EC and OCHA/HRPs
• Demonstrable experience of desk needs assessment, desk review, research and analysis
• Ability to synthesize information clearly and succinctly
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and short turn-around timeframes
• Excellent command of spoken and written English.
• Basic knowledge of Arabic / Kurdish language will be an added value.
• If the minimum requirements are not fully met, the Human Resources may substitute part of the unmet requirements with a combination of relevant academic qualification, additional professional training and/or progressive relevant work experience. Conditions of Service
- Contract type: Fixed term of 12 months
- Working Hours: Full Time (37.5 hours per week)
- Probation: 6 months
- Start date: ASAP
- Travel: Within Iraq as required, occasional visits to the region and UK
- Salary: Grade 4 (£38,036 to £41,659 per annum), negotiable, based on relevant experience. Plus, in-country allowance of 40 USD (Per Diem/Daily living allowance) when in country of post.
