A. Overview:
War Child UK works with children who, as a result of conflict, live with a combination of poverty, exclusion and insecurity. These children might include street children, child headed households, children conscripted into armed groups, and children who have been put in prison. Our mission is to support and improve the care and protection of children and young people who live with a combination of insecurity, poverty and exclusion in some of the worse conflict-affected places. We look forward to a world in which the lives of children are no longer torn apart by war. This is a vision that can only be realised through the collective actions of children themselves, communities and their leaders, organisations like War Child, governments and key decision makers.
The objective of this consultancy is to ensure better understanding of the law and to build a mutual trust between WCUK and the various stakeholders including the relevant governmental ministries based on a profound and credible legal approach.
B. Purpose of the Agreemnt (Scope of WORK):
Act as an official legal representative for WCUK Regional and Country Office based in Jordan in front of the relevant governmental entities and among the iNGOs organisations;
Provide legal advice on any issues related to social security, income tax and general sales tax in Jordan. In addition, legal advice related to financial regulations relevant to the work of iNGOs, e.g. inflation and cost of living information. Furthermore, the consultant should update us on any new legislations for social security, tax, data protection/privacy, money laundering or any other regulation that may affect our legal status.
Advise on the most effective approaches to reduce taxes, apply for exemptions when needed.
Provide advise to be in compliance with the country regulations to avoid any penalties.
Provide guidance in preparing an initial draft of the internal bylaw framework for WCUK (Jordan) and to check if it’s in conformity with Jordan labor law;
Review WCUK’s general agreements to obtain an understanding of the context of the legal aspects and provide the necessary guidance;
Review contract templates as well as sample of existing or past contracts of staff and external service providers and make recommendations for enhancing these to better reflect the requirements of the HQ and host country legislation. The sample of contracts and the recommendations should include those for which there were or are ongoing disputes;
Manage visas related issues, entry permissions, work permits and residency, for all employees including expats as needed.
Draft and/or review lease or sale agreements for properties/ cars to be leased and/or purchased by WCUK relating to its work and vocational practice license.
Provide WCUK with legal advice on all matters involving disputes which may arise from time to time;
To attend all meetings, negotiations and discussions where legal opinion is required, if and when requested by WCUK such as MOUs discussions.
Perform legal duties such as court cases, when needed, and upon an agreed fee.
C.Person specification:
Eligible consultant(s) should have the following qualifications and experience:
A university degree in Law; Member of Jordan Bar Association;
At least five years of relevant experience in providing legal services preferable to have an experience working with INGOs.
Good command of English Language spoken and written; Arabic as mother tongue;
D.Duration:
The terms and conditions of the contract shall apply for the duration of the contract; the contract duration is 6 months effective from April 2018;
E.Financial Proposal:
Financial proposal should be submitted along with the CV and should include all the costs required for the whole contract duration;

Official Legal Representation of WCUK
Visas, work permits and residencies
Revisions of Conditions of Employments
Revision of service agreements any other type of contracts
Assessment and advise of our legality compliance
G. CONTRACT TERMS
