Overview:
War Child UK works with children who, as a result of conflict, live with a combination of poverty, exclusion and insecurity. These children might include street children, child headed households, children conscripted into armed groups, and children who have been put in prison. Our mission is to support and improve the care and protection of children and young people who live with a combination of insecurity, poverty and exclusion in some of the worse conflict-affected places. We look forward to a world in which the lives of children are no longer torn apart by war. This is a vision that can only be realised through the collective actions of children themselves, communities and their leaders, organisations like War Child, governments and key decision makers.
The Youth Creative Activities Trainer is a consultancy role at War Child UK (WCUK) under the supervision of the Deputy Project Manager in Jordan.
The Youth Creative Activities Trainer will work closely with the Deputy Project Manager, Communications Officer as well as Site Monitor of EJC in Jordan to deliver drama, creative writing and photography sessions in the Youth Club component under Rescue Childhood Project.
Purpose of Agreement:
To support the “Youth Club” component for Rescue Childhood project and to deliver ToT of creative writing and photography for four facilitators at WCUK site in EJC. The purpose of these ToT is to train the Youth facilitators on how to conduct photography and creative writing sessions, which are aimed at children aged 14-17 years.
A) Job Specification: Task and responsibilites:
I. Provide ToT for Youth component facilitators on photography and creative writing in WCUK site in EJC.
II. Preparing and supervising printing of a magazine contains photos, articles and stories that come from the beneficiaries with the support of the trainer as a final product for six groups of young people.
III. Support the two Youth Facilitators working in EJC in requesting training material for the current cycle for the “**Youth Club**” component;
IV. Support the two Youth facilitators working in EJC by conducting four visits to EJC to monitor the ongoing sessions.
B) Person specification:
War Child’s office is a lively and fast-paced environment made up of a team of extremely dedicated staff & volunteers. We’re looking for someone who can fit in well and bring their personality, creativity and professionalism to the wider charity.
Experience and mandatory criteria:
· A university degree preferably in Drama, Communications, Multimedia or any other related field.
· Good command of the English language spoken and written; Arabic language is essential;
· Minimum of two years of experience in multimedia, training and leading workshops with children.
Technical Skills/Expertise:
· Knowledge and clear vision on the role of training in drama and multimedia within an international NGO like War Child UK.
· Possession of excellent theoretical knowledge on Story writing, directing, cinematography, production, design, and editing
· Possession of excellent facilitation skills.
Competencies (Soft Skills):
· Motivated by and committed to War Child's values, vision and mission.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills and able to communicate effectively with all key stakeholders, particularly young people by using clear, accurate yet simple language.
· Experience in child participatory methodologies.
· Able to build strong relationships with the team working in EJC
Desirable Criteria:
· Experience of working with children affected by conflict.
