War Child UK has a small but complex programme in Afghanistan, working on strengthening child protection systems across the country, and assisting the safe return of unaccompanied and separated minors forcibly returned to Afghanistan from Iran. Our new Programme Quality Manager will oversee the safe and effective implementation of these programmes, whilst leading on efforts to scale up our programme through a more diverse portfolio of funding in response to the growing humanitarian needs in the country.
An integral part of the Senior Management Team in country, The Programme Quality Manager will be responsible for ensuring good strategic leadership of programmes in Afghanistan, ensuring programme quality, managing key risks and supporting the team to deliver their goals. The role will also lead technical representation and coordination efforts across Kabul and Herat, with the key objective of scaling up and raising funds for our programme in order to meet the growing needs of conflict affected and displaced children in Afghanistan. The role is managed by the Country Director in Afghanistan and will line manage project managers, the country MEAL manager, and other project and technical staff in line with programme growth. The post holder will be responsible for initially modest programme budgets.
